The Delhi Government has awarded the tender for the induction of 190 low-floor, air-conditioned, CNG buses into the city’s public transport fleet to IndClan Mobility Private Limited. This will take the total number of cluster buses to 3383 and the total fleet of buses to 7140.
The induction will begin next year. The buses are to be fully complaint with BS-VI emission standards and boast of state-of-the-art facilities which include real-time passenger information system, CCTVs, panic buttons and GPS, Delhi transport department said in a statement.The buses will be provided under under the Gross Cost Model of contracting and are going to operate from Ghumanera depot.
The tender was originally for Cluster Number 16 CLF, which currently has 350 buses, was floated twice but only a single bid was received on both occasions which led to the cancellation of the tenders. So the Delhi Cabinet on August 29 this year decided to split the tender having Cluster-ID 16A CLF and 16B CLF with 160 and 190 buses respectively.
