Largest Ever Tender on GeM to Procure 1 crore Smartphones and tablets to be floated by UP Govt

The Government of Uttar Pradesh is expected to float one of the biggest ever tenders on the GeM portal for procurement of around one crore smartphones and tablets for which Rs.3000 crore have been earmarked in the financial year ’21-22. which will be distributed to the youth of the state by the end of November.

The procurement will be for at least 2.5 lakh tablets and 5 lakh smartphones in the first lot.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had stated, “In order to equip the youth of Uttar Pradesh with the latest technology so that no youth in the State lacks in getting the benefit of online studies, the government will start providing tablets, laptops from the last week of November.”

The issuing authority for the purchase of tablets and smartphones is the Department of Industrial Development and will be posted on the GeM portal and will be the biggest tender ever on the GeM portal.
